The story of a small idea that changed the lives of millions.
BS Brace is a clinically proven, non-surgical solution for ingrown toenails, trusted by healthcare professionals and patients across more than 40 countries for over 38 years.
Developed with advanced technology and a strong focus on safety, BS Brace offers an effective alternative to invasive treatments.

The creator of BS Brace, Bernd Stolz began his career as a chiropodist at the age of 14, in his parents' company in Germany. A year later he learned how to use the Ross Fraser bilateral orthonyxie brace. Despite its success in therapy he soon concerned himself with its disadvantages.
Following a partial resection of an ingrown nail it is not possible to use one of these corrective braces because the hooks of the wire brace have to be inserted under the nail fold at the edge. A further disadvantage of these hooks is the strong pain they cause, especially when the nail fold is inflamed.
This is a very serious problem, particularly for diabetics who cannot define pain very clearly. And then he had a thought: "It must be possible to apply a nail brace without using these hooks." The idea was born; next it had to be executed technically.
After going through all the possible scenarios it turned out that the most feasible solution would be to stick the brace to the nail. However, finding the right material proved very difficult. Experiments with metal braces did not lead to the desired effect. Nor did conventional plastic achieve the success he hoped for. Finally, Duroplast strengthened with fibreglass led to the breakthrough!
Creator of BS Brace
Professional. Precise. Patient-orientated. Consistent in consultation, service and distribution. It is in accordance with these criteria that the creator of BS Brace Company has been researching and manufacturing at the company's headquarters in Germany for decades.
The BS Brace has been available as a gentle, tried and tested method of treatment of ingrown toenails, currently practised in over 40 countries around the world and growing rapidly.
A patent for the BS Brace was applied for all over Europe. Through daily work as a chiropodist, Bernd Stolz continuously improved the product.

The Multi-Applicator for all BS Magnet and Magnet+ systems is added to the product range.
For over three decades, the BS Brace has offered a clinically proven, non-invasive solution for the treatment of ingrown toenails. Manufactured from synthetic fibreglass and precisely ground to just two-thousandths of a millimetre, the brace delivers both flexibility and durability while ensuring patient comfort.
The BS Brace is available in six sizes and functions on the mechanical principle of a leaf spring. When applied to a curved or ingrown nail, it generates a resetting force that gently lifts the nail out of the fold. The balance of pressure and counter-pressure allows for progressive correction without the need for surgery. This tension can be adjusted by modifying the ends of the brace if needed.
Simple in application and reliable in performance, the BS Brace offers a precise, gentle, and effective treatment method for nail correction.
Concept applied. Effect guaranteed!
Professional. Precise. Patient-oriented. These core values guide the development and production of the BS Brace in Germany, where it has been manufactured for over three decades.
Used in over 40 countries, the BS Brace is recognised for its consistent quality and performance. Precision is maintained through advanced techniques such as computer-based testing of bending strength, magnetic induction thickness control, and continuous monitoring of adhesive power.
Criteria defined. Goals achieved!
More width:
The standard BS Brace Magnet is 3 mm wide. To meet diverse clinical needs, a 4 mm version is also available.
Greater strength and clinical extension:
The 4 mm variant enhances corrective strength through its greater width, without altering the established application method. It offers a reliable option for more severe cases, though practitioners should monitor for increased tension or discomfort. Standard procedures remain unchanged and may benefit from improved control and stability.
The BS Brace was developed by Bernd Stolz, who began practicing chiropody at the age of 14 in his family clinic. By 15, he was trained in applying the Ross Fraser bilateral orthonyxie brace. While effective, he recognised key limitations - especially in cases involving inflamed nail folds or partial nail resections where wire hooks caused discomfort or could not be applied at all. This posed a particular challenge for diabetic patients with reduced pain sensitivity.
Motivated to create a gentler solution, he envisioned a hook-free system. After extensive experimentation with metals and conventional plastics, the breakthrough came with fibreglass-reinforced Duroplast a material that met the demands for strength, elasticity, and safety.
Since then, the BS Brace has evolved through ongoing refinements in application technique. Rooted in the principle of pressure and counter-pressure, like a leaf spring, the brace requires no pre-shaping. It adheres directly to the nail, adjusting naturally to its form and gradually correcting curvature through gentle, continuous tension.
